Actively Suppporting Our Troops

Happy Veteran's Day??

Tuesday, 11 November 2008 09:49 by feastwood

On this Veteran's Day, my thinking goes to our usual holiday greetings.  "Happy Veteran's Day" doesn't seem to cut it, does it?

With so many of our troops so far from home risking their lives for us, I would much rather focus on the true emotion of the day.

Let's show our troops and their families how much we appreciate them by helping them stay in contact with phone cards.  We are close to being able to send another big batch of cards, but we need your donations!

So maybe it will catch on if we are the first to wish you all a "Grateful Veteran's Day"!

Proud of Our Soldiers and Their Moms! Check Out This Audio

So as much as I hate to have to qualify this, it's necessary.

We have made every effort to make this a non-partisan site.  We believe very strongly that EVERYONE should support our troops, not just give them lip service.  It makes sense that both the right and the left would be supportive, right?

Wrong.  It should be a no brainer, but the conservative and right leaning radio hosts have ignored us completely and when we approached the Republican party office of Arizona we were treated nothing short of rudely.

The Democrats on the other hand have been tremendous.  They have allowed us to use their office as a drop off site and have supported everything we have asked of them.  With consistency, NovaM Radio (the new reigning leader in liberal talk radio) has covered our efforts over and over.

So I am going to violate everything I had intended for this site, by posting a link to an interview done by two of our soldier's Moms on NovaM this past weekend.  I still believe very strongly that this site is not about politics, but Americans!  I challenge the Republicans and conservative talk radio to stand up and show their support of our troops with a little help or maybe just some air time.

Please follow this link to hear this great interview!   http://www.giphonehome.com/docs/actionpoint-giphonehome3.mp3

So Much To Tell You

Saturday, 26 July 2008 18:12 by feastwood

July is such a hectic month.  So hot and so many birthdays - including mine and my country's.  Happy Birthday America.  I hope you and I both continue to improve with age.

Let me catch you up a bit on what has been going on here at GI Phone Home.

Our Sgt., the inspiration for this site and his unit are home and safe.  We are so grateful!  They still talk about what a difference the calling cards made for them.  More on that in future posts.

We were contacted recently by a woman whose son's unit in Iraq wants help calling home.  She did a tremendous interview on our behalf on Action Point radio.  The audio will be posted here shortly.  Her story is yet another tale of the importance of what we are trying to do here for the families of those serving in our military.

The media attention is starting to pick back up again.  If you have media contacts - please point them to us.  As always, we are continuing to try and spread the word that we have the chance to Actively Support Our Troops.

Thank you to all who continue to support GI Phone Home and our men and women of valor.
